The Immigration Investor Program (IIP) seeks to attract experienced business persons and their capital to Canada. Investors must demonstrate business experience and a legally obtained minimum net worth of $CAN 800,000, and must make an investment of CAN $400,000.
As for skilled workers, for the purpose of determining whether, as a member of the investor class, the entrepreneur class or the self-employed persons class, and the applicant's family members will be able to become economically established in Canada, an officer will assess the applicant on the basis of the following factors;
- (a) Age
- (b) Education
- (c) Proficiency in the official languages of Canada
- (d) Experience
- (e) Adaptability
The minimum number of points required of an investor, is fixed and made public by the Minister on the basis of:
- 1. The number of applications made by members of the investor class currently being processed;
- 2. The number of investors projected to become permanent residents according to the report to Parliament ;
- 3. The potential, taking into account economic and other relevant factors, for the establishment of investors in Canada.
